WeeChat development
The next major version of WeeChat has already got underway with the announcement on the WeeChat homepage stating that ther eis to be a whole new line of development
which will make the client not only quicker but more portable than ever. One of the screenshots on the wikipage shows Weechat with a scripted version of the age old game Tetris dubbed WeeTris being played while chatting in IRC showing the extendability of the client. The official announcement reads like so:
Next WeeChat version (codename "revolution") is under development. Large part of code was rewritten, it's now faster, easier, and more extensible. List of new features and screenshots can be found on wiki page (see link below).
Today there's no planed release date, some features are still missing, and there's lot of work until a stable version. We need help, like beta testers, to test this version. You can look at wiki page for more info.
To be continued in some months for other news...
Ratbox updates
The ratbox team both IRCd and Services appear to be on the ball as they aim to get the latest versions of there respected software packages into the land of stable. Lee H was the first to
announce the release of Ratbox-services with version 1.2.0 RC2 which has a minor set of fixes so i would imagine a stable release is not so far off for the services package. Later in the week we then had Aaron announce the immediate release of ircd-ratbox 3.0.0 beta 4 which sports a rather larger changelog so i would suspect another beta yet and maybe two RC's then this will be moving stable also.
The changelogs of both are printed below:
Services:
ratbox-services-1.2.0rc2
- updated bulgarian translations from ongeboren
- update example.lang translation file
- update packaged pcre to 7.7
